Situations Where Outpatient Detox Might Be A Better Option For You

There are two main types of detox centers. One is an inpatient facility that requires you to check yourself into the facility and stay there for the duration of the treatment plan. The other option is an outpatient detox center. This facility will provide you the support that you need in order to get clean from drugs and then lead a healthy life again. You aren’t required to stay at the facility for the entire length of time it takes to get clean. Which option you select really depends on your current life situation. Some people benefit from becoming involved in an inpatient program that takes them out of their day-to-day life and helps them focus on sober living. Other people feel they can complete their program while still going to work each day and being part of society. Let’s take a closer look at some of the situations where attending an outpatient detox center would be a more beneficial option.

Money is a Concern

When you enroll in an inpatient detox facility, you have a lot of costs to take on. Some health insurances provide some assistance when it comes to treatment facilities. Most insurance companies don’t take on full responsibility though. An outpatient facility is a much better option if you need something that is more affordable. In general, inpatient facilities tend to be privately owned. This makes them a much more expensive option because the facility needs to staff their own medical professionals. An outpatient facility is often run by the government or by a non-profit company. Your average individual that is in need of assistance doesn’t have an overabundance of money. It can cost hundreds of dollars to maintain a drug habit. There isn’t a lot of money left over for treatment when the time comes. It’s great that this more affordable option is available. Without it, people would potentially not be able to receive treatment and recover from addiction.

Are You Looking For A Less Strict Detox Option?

An inpatient facility is very strict when it comes to the rules that exist on site. An outpatient facility has far less rules regarding where patients can go during the day and what they have to do in order to stay in the program. You are likely to have a curfew in the evening hours. You may be asked to attend classes at certain days or times. You will also be asked to report for medication dosages if need be. You still get to live your life and feel like you are part of society. It can be very overwhelming for people to complete an inpatient program and then be thrown back into their old lives. This can increase a person’s risk for relapse if they can’t readjust to how they were living, but without the presence of drugs or alcohol. Functioning in society while you go through treatment can give you the opportunity to focus on certain triggers you have identified during this process. If you are looking for a more flexible treatment option then you might want to think about outpatient detox.

Time Frame

When you are using a detox treatment to get clean, you may have to dedicate a number of months to complete this process. Some patients receive methadone to assist with opioid dependency. Some treatments are prescribed and used indefinitely. Most people can’t afford to stay in treatment for months at a time. An outpatient detox facility will work with patients to make sure they can afford what they need moving forward while still being able to work and function. The assistance that you need might change as you progress. You might get through the initial detox phase but feel that you need more counseling or emotional support moving forward.

Outpatient detox facilities will give you access to all of the services that you need in order to get healthy again. You can take a few weeks if that is what you need or you can opt for something longer that lasts months. Most companies aren’t going to give you a lot of time away from work for something like this. This is an option that allows you to still get your work done and retain your position. It is important that you have a secure job in place once you are done with the program. This will give you something to go back to and will increase your chance of being successful in your recovery program.

Dealing with Withdrawal Symptoms

Every person deals with different levels of withdrawals when they are getting clean. Some people are actually able to function each day while going through this detox. There isn’t necessarily the need to stay in a facility while this part of the process takes place. There are drugs that will present some pretty difficult withdrawal symptoms such as meth, amphetamines and cocaine. Giving up drinking can actually be quite dangerous to the body during the withdrawal process. Depending on what drug of choice you are giving up, you can decide what you will need from your outpatient detox facility.

When you sign up for an outpatient detox facility, you are ensuring that you are getting the help that you need to recover. There is no need to suffer or struggle at home without assistance. Trying to get clean without the help of someone else will only increase your risk of relapsing in the future. Many people will even change their mind about getting clean when they realize how hard it will be doing it themselves. There is plenty of support available to you. Take advantage of this support and take your life back into your hands. If you would like more information on outpatient detox centers in your area give us a call at 877-978-3125. Real Client Testimonials

  • Before coming to coastal I was hopeless, helpless, and my family wanted nothing to do with me. It wasn’t the first detox I’d ever been to, but it was the only one who showed me so much love and compassion. They gave me hope. It’s hard to put into words the amount of gratitude I have for this facility. The employees were my family when I had none. The staff went out of their way to make sure not only were my physical needs taken care of, but my emotional needs as well. From the first phone call prior to admission, to helping me set up continuing care, they never missed a beat. Even going as far as to help me with my legal issues via Zoom court. This isn’t just a detox, they are the family I never had. All of the techs, especially Karen, are phenomenal. They will take the time to listen to you, laugh, and cry(if needed) with you. If you are reading this and you or your loved one is suffering like I was, go to Coastal Detox. The level of care is more than I could ever put into a review. It wasn’t the first detox I’d been to, but it has been my last; I owe them everything I have today, including my life.

  • Had a really good experience at Coastal. The staff really went above and beyond in helping me get in and gave me the respect l, space and care I needed after I first got there. As I started to fell better they encouraged me to take part in groups which helped get me out of my head and bring positivity and health to my thinking. They had a great massage therapist, who came daily and it was evident the nursing staff genuinely cared. Got to know some of the staff as well and I’m grateful for the cooks Joe and Chris. Those guys literally made us sirloins and pork chops for dinner. Also I gotta thank Chris and Chris for helping me get in and setting me up with a transition plan. Real grateful for that help, I’m not sure if it’s management intention to hire guys named Chris but they got a good thing going there. Overall, I’m clean and sober today and walking it out. Coastal gave me a base that set me up for the success that I’m walking in today

  • My family is very thankful for Coastal Detox. They have went above and beyond for my son a few times. Unfortunately he has needed their help more than once and they have ever turned their back on him, even when he was at his worst. Jeannie and Chris have been amazing and kept me informed through the entire process. They truly care about the addict and want to help them especially when it would be easy to give up on them. I had many detox facilities be rude and uncaring to me when I was searching for help for my son, but Coastal never did that to us. I don't know the names of all the team members that have helped my son but I know their are many and y'all are angels!! One day we will be able to pay it forward and help someone as you have helped us. Thank you for all you do!!

  • Can not say enough nice things about Coastal Detox & staff. Family member was there, told me five stars for the facility & all whom she interacted with. Said the facilities, ambience..., cleanliness, grounds, food, (think their chef is five stars), were all top shelf. All I interacted with personally & on the phone were patient, professional, responsive & caring. Kudos to so many: Jeannie Jones, Clinical Director whom I spent the most face to face time with: great oversight, patience & follow thru. Raquel Barker, Therapist was so understanding & on spot with her assessments/care. Kris Garrigus Admissions Director, another Coastal professional whom I cannot say enough nice things about, always so patient & responsive to my probably too frequent inquires. Not to be forgotten is Judy Tucker, Director of Operations she too so patiently "put up with me"
    I highly recommend Coastal Detox
