Bright Health’s Insurance Policies For Addiction Recovery

Bright Health Insurance was founded in 2016 and offers affordable health insurance coverage. Insurance will help cover the payments of medical treatment, including both medical and mental health-related services. Since the passing of the Affordable Care Act, insurance plans are required to include substance abuse, addiction, and mental health in their covered services.

Insurance companies typically have different layers of coverage, so it’s always best to double-check your plan with Bright Health to see how long you are covered for, and which specific services have coverage. If you ever feel like your plan isn’t offering what you need, it’s easy to upgrade or change plans with their open enrollment.

Bright Health Coverage Plans for Addiction

Bright Health has four main program options for coverage that you can use for treatment in Florida. Everyone has different needs when it comes to what services they need, and to what extent. Bright Health has created these options to make sure every type of patient has a coverage option that makes sense for them. These plans include:

Gold Plan

Bright Health’s Gold plan is the highest level of coverage offered. With this plan, you will receive a generous amount of coverage and have access to more frequent appointments. The premium will also be the highest out of the options. This plan is best for those who expect to need more medical attention, prescription medications, or have multiple health concerns/dual diagnoses.

Silver Plan

Silver plans are a step down from their top-level Gold plan. While still offering decent coverage for addiction recovery and prescriptions, this plan will have slightly less coverage. This plan is best suited for those expecting to use their plan an average amount and prefer lower premiums.

Bronze Plan

Bronze plans will have the lowest premium but the highest deductible. This means that, while it’s more affordable on a month-to-month basis, it can ultimately be more costly. This plan is best for people in good health who don’t expect to utilize their health care too often.

What Addiction Services Does Bright Health Cover?

It’s important to review the coverages offered by your healthcare provider to make sure your individual needs will be met. Some of the services covered under Bright Health include:

  • Detox: Bright Health will cover the cost of professional detox to make sure you withdraw safely and under the supervision of their in-network providers
  • Residential Care: Once detox is complete, most care facilities will recommend attending a residential recovery program. Bright Health will cover the cost of a standard length residential patient program.
  • Partial Hospitalization: This form of treatment does not require you to stay at a facility, but rather receive daily treatment within a facility and return home. Bright Health covers these visits to in-network clinics.
  • Outpatient Programs: These programs are similar to partial hospitalization but can be considered a step-down. You will have general guidance on your recovery but only actually visit the treatment facility for a few hours a day or week.
  • Post care: Bright Health offers coverage for psychiatrists, therapists, medications, and other post-care needs.

EPO Insurance Plans

An Exclusive Provider Plan (EPO)is an insurance plan that has a local network of providers within their eligible services. Your plan will only cover those within the network, and if you choose to see someone outside of that network- you will likely be paying out of pocket. The good news is that because you are using their preferred network, your premium and deductible are much lower than a private health care provider would be.

The majority of Bright Health’s Insurance plans are EPO. If you live outside of Florida or a covered state, you may have to travel in order to get covered under their plan. If you live in Florida, Bright Health has plenty of options for any type of provider you need.

In-Network Vs. Out-of-Network with Bright Health

Bright Health offers coverage for those within their network who fall under the approved geographical locations. Pricing of policies is based partially on the location of the individual at the time of registration. Since different locations tend to vary in costs for medical facilities, coverage will likely only apply within your designated radius. Make sure you confirm with Bright Health or ask your provider about whether or not you’re covered. In many cases, Bright Health can work with you to update your location of coverage if needed.

Is Bright Health Coverage Enough to Cover Your Treatment?

Bright Health Insurance coverage in Florida will provide the necessary medical coverage for your addiction rehabilitation services. In many cases, people seek alternatives for additional treatment on top of the standard provided services. Some things that Bright Health may not cover include:

  • Private programs
  • Over-the-counter medications
  • New Age/ Unapproved treatment services
  • Group Housing after treatment

It’s important to keep in mind that Bright Health only covers services that are recommended or requested by your medical provider.

Bright Health Plan Qualifications and Fees

When applying for Bright Health Insurance, you will be asked a series of questions that determine your financial responsibility for your coverage. This will include age, income, pre-existing conditions, the expected frequency of use, and so forth.

Using this data, Bright Health will offer you a premium plan and you will be responsible for paying an initial amount in full and then small fees each time you require a service. You must be listed as an insured on the policy to receive coverage.

Bright Health’s Role in the Aftercare Process

Bright Health Insurance understands that recovery does not stop when you leave an addiction treatment center. Addiction recovery is a lifelong process, and Bright Health is prepared to support you along the way. You will have continuous coverage for licensed therapists,  counselors, medications, and some holistic services.
